LA RESISTANCE
Now where were we? Oh yes… Derek has picked Sky up from work, and they’re both headed south, away from the changes that Derek has foreseen – flooding, nuclear war, famine. Derek-M (the jackal of Derek’s mind) and Sky-M (the cat of Sky’s mind) follow close-by aboard the train of gathered animals – animals of all kinds, ages, and sizes.
Rain had gathered an electrical storm to assist Derek in helping Sky to reach fifty percent. In Sky’s state of shocked agony, those insects and worms relentlessly rose to the surface, while Derek suffered to obliterate them. As soon as the target was reached, Rain cleared the skies and opened the clouds, allowing fresh sunshine to beam down onto Derek and Sky, renewing their spirits with a sense of relief and hope.
As the clouds open up and sunshine beams in, a tiger cub from the train hops out and onto the hood of their car. Of course they can’t see him, but they certainly sense the presence of the song as he begins to sing1:
PlayTiger cub:
God has smiled upon you this day
The fate of a nation in your hands
And blessed be the children we
Who fight with all our bravery
‘Til only the righteous standYou see the distant flames
They bellow in the night
You fight in all our names
For what we know is right
And when you all get shot
And cannot carry on
Though you die, La Resistance lives on
The tiger cub jumps back in the train and the whole train joins in:
You may get stabbed in the head
With a dagger or a sword
You may be burned to death
Or skinned alive or worse
But when they torture you
You will not feel the need to run for
Though you die, La Resistance lives on
Delilah (a goddess, one of the gods who turned) sings from the other side of the world where the gods who turned are gathered, Razor beside her:
Blame Canada!
Blame Canada!
Because the country’s gone awry
Tomorrow night these freaks will fry!
The gods who turned (minus Razor and Delilah):
Tomorrow night
Our lives will change
Tomorrow night
We’ll be entertained
An execution
What a sight
Tomorrow night!
Razor:
Up there there is so much room
Where babies burp and flowers bloom
Tomorrow night up there is doomed
And so I will be going soon!
A couple poo-throwing monkeys on the train:
Shut your fucking face, Uncle Fucka!
You’re a boner-biting bastard, Uncle Fucka!
Looks like we may be out of luck
Tomorrow night, we’re pretty fucked!
A young badger:
Why did our mothers start this war?
What the fuck are they fighting for?
When did this song become a marathon?
Razor:
I want to be up there!
Delilah:
When Canada is dead and gone
There’ll be no more Celine Dion!
Animals on train:
They may cut your dick in half
And serve it to a pig
And when it hurts you’ll laugh
And dance a dickless jig
But that’s the way it goes
In war you’re shat upon
Though we die, La Resistance lives oooooonnnnn!
Delilah:
Blame Canada!
Blame Canada!
Blame Canada!
