Part 17
RETURN TO INNOCENCE

And so the blast eats away at the shield of water, slowly tearing away at it.  All the animals from the train gather behind Derek-M to watch as the blast approaches. *Tssshhhh* The flames completely evaporate the wall of water and then, suddenly, they dissipate into nothingness, revealing to all a world broken. A young elephant walks amongst the animals, singing, as they all follow along singing as well¹:

All alone or in twos
The ones who really love you
Walk up and down outside the wall
Some hand in hand
And some gathered together in bands
The bleeding hearts and the artists
Make their stand
And when they’ve given you their all
Some stagger and fall after all it’s not easy
Banging your heart against some mad bugger’s wall

4:00 a.m.  Derek wakes up. He suddenly remembers and feels again his father’s voice within him, repeating those words he heard six years ago… “Those are about the things you can’t control, not the things you can control.”

And he thinks to himself, “This isn’t going to happen here yet…”

He turns to Sky and gently shakes her.

“You ready to go home?”

Sky’s face lights up and she smiles, “Of course I am!”

They pack their bags back into the car and as the world sleeps, they head back down the same road they came.  Sky hits the radio and a smile grows so big in their hearts as the sun begins its steady ascent, and the music plays²:

Love
Devotion
Feeling
Emotion

Don’t be afraid to be weak
Don’t be too proud to be strong
Just look into your heart my friend
That will be the return to yourself
The return to innocence

The return to innocence

If you want, then start to laugh
If you must, then start to cry
Be yourself don’t hide
Just believe in destiny

Don’t care what people say
Just follow your own way
Don’t give up and use the chance
To return to innocence

That’s not the beginning of the end
That’s the return to yourself
