[Same set, morning, big duck completed outside barn but not painted yet. Angel painting it. Eagle inside barn. Everyone else outside scattered around stage, passed out asleep on the ground with tools next to them. Eagle steps outside barn, laughing at everyone passed out as he makes his way stage left.]
Eagle: I guess they deserve a little rest, huh? … So how do you feel?
Angel: I feel great! Thank you so much!
Eagle: Don’t thank me, I’ve learned more from you and Red than you two have learned from me, that’s for sure.
Angel: Whatever, I’m not sure that’s true!
Eagle: Sure it is! Anyway, I’ve got to fly for now.
Angel: Really?
Eagle: Yep, you guys got this! I’ll get in touch with you a bit later.
Angel: Okay then. Adios!
[Eagle flies off. From stage left you hear:]
Robert’s voice: I’m telling you Balin, they’re up to no good. Not much further now, somewhere through these woods…
[Enter Robert stage left, Balin entering shortly behind him.]
Robert: Aha! Just as I said!
Balin: [looking at Angel] Heh, so your shoulders work now? How convenient…
Angel: Yup. Work just fine.
Balin: And what is this?
Angel: Uhh… a duck?
Robert: Alright, smart alec, what’s it for?
Angel: We’re gonna cross in it, of course, over to the other side.
Balin: [laughs] So I suppose this is what they’ve all been up all night working on? [looks at Red asleep on ground and shakes his head] It’s a shame that boy never allowed the realization of his full potential… A real shame…
Robert: Yup… What a waste.
Balin: You hear this, Robert? A DUCK! [they both laugh] …
Angel: You can come with us if you want. We’re not really picking and choosing, whoever wants to come can.
Balin: Uhh.. no thanks. I mean, as much as I would like to stay behind and die with you guys, I think I might have to pass on this one…
[Balin and Robert laugh]
Balin: Let’s get outta here.
[Balin and Robert exit stage left.]
Angel: [shrugs, Aside:] Okay…
