Part 4
A PERFECT MECHANISM
10,000,000 Years Ago
De watched Earth, and he was happy with her development. He saw that she had given birth to something new, a form that was aware of its own existence, an animal with the ability to reason. And so he named this animal “man”. De’s seed had begun to sprout from the processes of life, an inevitable growth that would eventually try to return to its source, the world of Will. He looked down and he said to himself, “Good…”
He was pleased.
As for the gods, they weren’t so certain this was a good thing. They understood that this could upset the order and harmony they had fought to maintain for their entire lives, introducing a desire not understood by the animal, an invisible and incomprehensible longing for the world of Will, thus throwing a wrench into the cogs of what was previously seen, in the gods’ eyes, as a perfect mechanism. These animals carried potential for the growth of Will, which could at some point undermine the powers they were given to keep the mechanism in order, the very reason their Father had created them and given them such powers.
But this was a long way away, and none of them dared to say a thing that might go against their Father.
